SPF

The long anticipated anti-dumping duty rates were officially decided on and imposed this week on Canadian softwood lumber. The rate, which was previously 14% is now at 27%.

This rate increased SPF prices around $30 overnight, which is equivalent to around $800 more a truckload.

Print prices are now at their peak for this year.

The more mixes on a truck, the harder it seems to find at better prices. Particular sizes like 2x4x12 and 2x4x16 are hot items and are increasing rapidly with demand.

SYP

No major changes whatsoever in SYP this week with nearly all sizes at a stand still in price. This is likely to not be the case in the coming weeks and SYP prices will try to follow suit with the spike in the SPF market.

Great deals on low grade material are easy to come by, especially when buying multiple trucks as mills are anxious to move material fast.

OSB

No change in OSB prices, some mid-week numbers even showed another drop around $5 but for the most part we are seeing pricing as it has been the past month or more with OSB still holding at the bottom dollar pricing.
