SYP
It appears that SYP is indeed going to level out over the next few weeks as nearly all dimensions did not change this week. 2x6s were the only width that took on an increase of only $5/mbf.
Although SYP has had an average increase for eight weeks straight now; there has been no weeks with more than a $6/mbf average increase. It is likely that it will follow the same slow pattern down now through (possibly) the remainder of the year.
We do not see too much room for SYP to fall though as prices are already very low when comparing to all of 2025. It is a great time to keep your stock up in SYP.
Low grade also did not move and has been at the same prices for two weeks. We are seeing supplies tighten on #4 material so mills are very firm on prices right now.
SPF
After increasing a total of $30/mbf through October (which was initiated by the mid-month tariffs on Canadian lumber), SPF has now had two weeks of decreases.
2x4s (especially in 16’) seem to be over priced right now as many mills are sending out offers to buyers which usually indicates a surplus in supply. We highly suggest waiting until the end of November before buying any 2x4s if possible.
2x6s on the other hand are a more difficult to predict right now as prices are hardly changing from their October prices. Prices will probably slowly begin coming down soon but it could be December before any significant decreases are seen in SPF 2x6s.
All dimensions in studs are also working their way down so we suggest waiting a few more weeks before stocking up.
OSB
With OSB increasing very little in October (which was more than it had increased the previous three months) many were anticipating that it would begin its weekly rise; however, mills still seem to have surplus and are still taking offers below asking costs. If you can stock up, especially in volume, now is the time!
