SYP

SYP hardly moved this week which is likely an indication that prices have hit the bottom.

We strongly suggest stocking up as much as possible in yellow pine as prices may be as low as we will see in months to come.

2x4s did fall between $5/mbf and $10/mbf while 2x12s rose around $5/mbf.

All other lengths did not change in pricing this week.

Even if it is small, it seems that demand will have to rise with nice fall weather being upon us and more projects getting built. This paired with less production at the mills is likely to spur at minimum a flattening in prices for the coming months if not a small increase.

Low grade material did not change any this week either so we also suggest stocking up on #3 and #4 material.

SPF

SPF does seem to be tapering off of the double digit increases each week as this week 2x4s fell around $12/mbf and 2x6s fell around $8/mbf.

Studs again fell another $15/mbf this week.

As we mentioned in last week’s news, with multiple mills formally announcing that they will be producing less for the rest of the year, this may quickly tighten demand and prices are likely to begin rising in the next two weeks.

OSB

OSB is still hovering at the bottom with no signs of increasing. We suggest buying what you need and more. Mills are quick to take offers especially when buying multiple truckloads at a time.
