SYP
SYP continues to fall as prices have now decreased for four straight weeks. We believe we still have two more weeks before we see prices back to steady or slowly increasing.
2×4 lengths varied as 16’ to 20’ only came down around $5/mbf while 8’ to 14’ came down around $15/mbf.
2x6s and 2x10s dropped around $10/mbf.
2x8s came down around $5/mbf and 2x12s did not move.
2x8s, 10s, and 12s in #2 grade hardly moved with a few dimensions even taking on small increases. This could indicate that we will see an upward trend in #2 grade before #1.
Two weeks ago, low grade SYP took on its first decrease in over 20 weeks. However, this week prices showed no movement at all.
SPF
SPF has now had four weeks of nearly no price changes. The only dimension worth noting this week was 2x6x16 dropping $10/mbf.
SPF is up around $50/mbf since December, but we do not expect prices to soften, especially with the heavy building season coming.
OSB
Another slow week in OSB as prices remained unchanged. Mills are still sitting on inventory and are taking any offers that they can. It isn’t often in the market that we see prices remain at the bottom as long as this stint in OSB has been. Volume seems to be the key in better price findings.
