SYP
SYP posted another solid week of gains, though the increases came in more even across the board this time. After last week’s big varied jump, this week settled into a steady $10 to $15/mbf climb on nearly every dimension.
2x4s, 2x10s and 2x12s all came up $15, while 2x6s and 2x8s increased $10. There were very few outliers this week as prices moved almost in lockstep.
This makes six weeks in a row of increases. Demand is holding strong through the summer and we expect prices to keep climbing, though the pace may start to level off after such a long run up.
Low grade SYP finally showed a little life coming up around $5. It is still lagging well behind the rest of the market, but after weeks of sitting flat any movement is worth noting.
SPF
SPF had its strongest week of the run, jumping around $20 on average. 2x6s led the charge in a big way with some lengths up $25 to $35, while 2x4s came up a more modest $10 to $15.
SPF has now strung together four straight weeks of double-digit gains with no real sign of slowing. As long as demand holds, expect prices to stay on the climb.
OSB
OSB still has not moved. SYP and SPF keep marching higher while OSB stays planted at the bottom, with demand too soft to get prices off the floor.
