SYP

SYP took on its largest increase for the past month this week. After several weeks of slow and steady gains, increases broke into the $15 to $25/mbf range nearly across the board.

Wider widths led the way once again. 2x10s increased the most coming up around $25, with 2x12s right behind around $20. 2x8s came up around $15 to $20 while 2x6s increased around $15 and 2x4s came up around $10 to $15/mbf.

This makes five straight weeks of increases and by far the biggest jump of the run. With demand clearly picking up through the summer, we expect prices to keep climbing, though a jump this size is not likely to repeat every single week.

Low grade SYP still has not joined the party. Prices barely moved again with only a few dollars of increase at most. Low grade continues to lag well behind the rest of the market, so it remains a great time to buy.

SPF

SPF kept its double-digit run going for a third straight week, increasing around $15. 2x6s led the way with some lengths jumping $20 to $25, while 2x4s were more mixed in the $5 to $15 range.

Demand has clearly carried over into SPF as well, and as long as it holds, prices should stay firm through the rest of the summer.

OSB

OSB still did not move. While SYP and SPF continue to climb, OSB remains stuck at the bottom with demand still too soft to get prices off the floor.
