SYP

As anticipated, 2x6s and 2x8s hit their lowest prices 2 weeks ago and are now on their way up. 2×6 went up $10 this week and 2x8s seemed to remain steady; but we expect that they too will increase at least $10 in the coming week.

It seems inevitable that prices are going to be on a steady increase through the summer in Southern Yellow Pine; but just how fast prices will spike is unknown. $10 a week may be a good and safe guess as to an average increase a week, but time will tell.

2x10s took the largest cut this week dropping around $20, while 2x4s dropped $15. We may see one more week of decreases for these dimensions but we would suggest buying this week as they are now on their 7th week of price decreases and deals may become harder to find later in the week.

Longer lengths in 2×12 (16’-20’) took a deep cut as well falling nearly $20 while shorter lengths fell only $5 to $10. If you need 2×12, it is a great time to buy but one more week may yet save you a few pennies.

SPF

This is the first week that all SPF took an increase since the Donald Trump tariff scare in March. After decreasing 14 straight weeks, it seems that SPF prices are now on their way up.

It was just a small increase around $5 this week, but we expect SPF to rise quickly with the number of summer builds that are to be had after a long, wet Spring. Stud also followed the same increase of $5.

We did see prices for 2x4x16s become very tight this week in that deals that could have been found the week prior were nearly impossible to find with prices being around $20 higher for this particular dimension.

OSB

OSB is still trading at the low prices we have been seeing the past month. Rumors of price increases are circulating but have yet to be seen. We are still seeing deals on 7/16 A grade OSB for $10 to $11 a sheet delivered.

As prices are this low on A grade material, we are suggesting many of our buyers that normally buy B or shop grade OSB to buy the A grade as prices are hardly different between the two.
