SYP
Southern pine finally hit the brakes this week. After eight straight weeks of gains, the market has finally
flattened out.
#1 held onto small gains, up around $5 with the wide widths still doing the work. 2x10s and 2x12s came
up $10 to $15, while 2x4s, 2x6s and 2x8s were mostly flat to $5.
#2 actually gave a little back, slipping around $5 across most narrows. 2×12 was the exception and still
came up $5 to $10 on tight supply.
Low grade was flat to down slightly as buyers backed off the heavier volumes they ordered earlier in the
year.
SPF
SPF slowed to a crawl as well, up around $5 on average. 2x6s carried it again with $10 to $15 on the
shorter lengths, while 2x4s were flat to $5.
Supplies are still tight and Canadian mill downtime is keeping a floor under it, so prices are firm, but the
double-digit weeks have run their course. Studs also cooled, up around $5.
OSB
OSB mill prices held flat again. Demand stayed stagnant across the South with mills sticking to their
quotes and turning away counters.
