SYP

This was a moderate week for SYP, in comparison to the previous month of increases, as prices only increased $7/mbf on average.

2×6 and 2x12s only increased around $5/mbf while most other widths increased around $10/mbf.

While prices are finally tapering off in SYP, we suggest waiting to see if prices begin to come down within the next two weeks and only buying what you need until then and not overstocking.

It is likely that prices will begin to drop, but trucking shortages across the country could keep prices from dropping more than they would have otherwise.

Many mills are still experiencing delays in finding trucks for ready orders. This is keeping shipping costs high which is a huge factor in delivered lumber prices.

Low grade SYP also finally had a moderate week, only increasing around $4/mbf on average.

SPF

SPF hardly moved this week as very few dimensions experienced a price change, and for those dimensions that did it was only $5/mbf.

Look for prices in SPF to begin dropping in the next two weeks as well. It seems that supplies are high at mills and many mills will likely be open to counter offers in the weeks to come.

OSB

No new news in OSB as prices remain where they have been for months with no future changes to be speculated on yet.
