September 28, 2026 Lumber News

Another week of decreases comes as demand seems to refuse to pick up the pace in nearly all sectors of lumber. The only two increases to note were in OSB.

OSB

August finally brought about signs of life in the OSB market after it had been on 10 plus months with no upward movement and remained nearly flat. However, prices have increased nearly $50/msf, or $1.60 a sheet in the past 6 weeks.

It is hard to tell how many more weeks of increases we could see in OSB. Many buyers had become acclimated to bottom dollar prices so we are expecting the price increase trend to taper in the coming weeks and flatten for a bit.

SYP

SYP prices have essentially been falling for 9 straight weeks when looking at all dimensions on average. 2x4s and 2x6s began a trend of their own 3 weeks ago by beginning to increase while the wide widths continued to fall. 2x6s could not keep up the pace as their prices are falling again but 2x4s did hold firm this week.

Most decreases across the board were in the $15/mbf range in both #1 and #2 grades.

Low grade SYP did have some decreases worth mentioning: 2×6, 2×10, and 2×12 down around $5 to $10, and 2x8s down $15. 2x4s held firm.

SPF

Studs are 3 weeks straight with hardly any movement. Deals are there to be found when quoting straight truckloads of the same dimension.

2x4s and 2x6s fell around $10/mbf again this week making it 8 straight weeks of decreases in SPF.
