SYP
Southern yellow pine eased again this week, continuing a slide that’s been underway since mid-July. 2×10 and 2×12 slipped $10 to $30/mbf across both #1 and #2.
2×8 eased $5 to $10/mbf in both grades.
2×4 #1’s held dead flat across every length, while 2×4 #2’s actually went up $5 to $10. 2×6 stayed mostly flat in both grades.
Low grade (#3/#4) was essentially flat again this week.
SPF
Spruce-pine-fir eased modestly this week. 2×4 and 2×6 mostly came off $5 across the board, with 2x4x16′ the lone bright spot, up $5. 2×6-8′ and 2×6-10′ held right at last week’s levels.
No strong signal either way here — traders are calling it a grind, with rising rates and fuel costs keeping buyers cautious and mills mostly holding at previous levels.
OSB
7/16″ OSB increased $10 this week. Supply stayed tight after a mill curtailment in Eastern Canada and ongoing maintenance shutdowns elsewhere, and buyers had to work harder to find open-market coverage.
