SYP

Demand finally picked up in SYP as most traders saw a pick up in actual orders.

Prices are beginning to reflect this rise in demand.

Wider widths increased the most this week in SYP as 2x10s and 2x12s increased around $15/mbf.

2x6s increased around $10/mbf while 2x4s and 2x8s increased only $5/mbf.

We expect prices to continue increasing at least through the rest of June.

Low grade SYP spent most of April and May dropping slowly but has now firmed up as prices have spent two weeks hardly moving. The increases we did see were small, being under $5/mbf.

SPF

SPF finally had its first double-digit price change since March as prices increased $15/mbf this week across nearly all dimensions.

Prices had not changed more than $5/mbf a week since March, so prices jumping $15/mbf this week shows that demand is actually coming in to the market which could keep prices up through June in SPF as well.

OSB

OSB demand was still mixed and spotty and still not enough to get prices off the floor.
