May 25, 2026 Lumber News

Hello and welcome to Lumber News for May 25, 2026. We will begin this edition of Lumber News with

SYP

Prices firmed up quicker than expected as spotty increases of around $5/mbf on a minority of dimensions showed up this week. Nearly all dimensions went unchanged.

A few lengths in 2×4 did decrease $10/mbf.

Most are speculating that prices will not jump as demand seems to remain sluggish throughout the country. Many are blaming the ever-rising fuel costs that have kept most buyers conservative in their spending this Spring.

Low grade SYP prices flattened out this week with nearly no change at all after dropping over $20/mbf the past 4 weeks. Now is likely a great time to buy low grade as prices have dropped for 5 consecutive weeks. Even though it has not gone down much, any price decreases were a relief in low grade as prices have soared this year.

SPF

SPF continues to remain stable. One could get spoiled by the lack of movement in SPF prices the past 2 months. No factors indicate that SPF would increase or decrease abruptly anytime soon.

Studs increased around $5/mbf while most other dimensions remained unchanged.

OSB

OSB did not move this week either. Many mills seem to be quoting premium prices but to no avail as supply remains robust and prices remain at the bottom. The only sign of life, which was a $10 increase show a few weeks back; may have only been from rising fuel costs.
