SYP

Another week of double-digit price decreases in Southern Yellow Pine. This week most dimensions fell around $15/mbf.

2x4s are still leading the pack, falling around $25/mbf in #2 grade, while 2x6s fell $20/mbf. 2x8s and 10s fell around $15/mbf while 2x12s only dropped $10/mbf.

We will likely see prices flattening out in the next two to three weeks as most are speculating that prices are nearing their floor. Demand is staying somewhat flat as most buyers are waiting to see just how low prices will go.

However, with prices dropping over $50/mbf in just 4 weeks, most are deeming it a great time to buy again after many were staying thin on inventory during most of March and April.

Low grade has taken another $5 to $10/mbf decrease this week.

SPF

The SPF market on the other hand has been flat for over a month now as prices have not fluctuated over $5/mbf in the past 6 weeks. It seems that there is ample inventory available as mills are quick to take counter offers.

OSB

The first formal price increase of $10/mbf came for OSB this week. This could be the indicator that supplies are tight at the mills and prices could begin going up as OSB prices have been at their rock bottom for months now.
